Time Zone Sending
Updated over a week ago

Timing matters. With Voyage, you can send your campaigns to subscribers at a scheduled time in each subscriber's local time zone for tighter targeting of time-sensitive messaging.

What is time zone sending?

Time zone sending enables you to send a campaign to all your subscribers at a scheduled time in each subscriber's local time zone.

For example, if you schedule a campaign to be sent out at 9:00 AM, all the subscribers in your segment will receive the campaign at 9:00 AM in their local time.

How do I enable time zone sending?

You can find the time zone sending feature on the last step of the campaign builders in which it applies. Simply tick the "Send in local time zone of subscriber" box to enable the feature:

Note: time zone sending not available for same day sending

How is the time zone of a subscriber determined?

The time zone of a subscriber is determined by the area code of their phone number. This means that in rare instances, subscribers that change time zones and keep their phone numbers will receive messages according to the time zone of their phone number.

What happens if a subscriber is outside sending hours?

Before your campaign is sent, our system double checks your segment to ensure that no subscribers receive messages at inconvenient hours of the day.

In the exceptional case that a subscriber is located in a distant time zone (e.g. Nova Scotia), they will be automatically be excluded from the segment when your campaign is sent.

How does throttling impact time zone sending?

Time zone sending takes initial precedence with available subscribers from that list being added to batches, by the amount throttled. For example: A campaign with 5,000 subscribers is scheduled at 8 AM with time zone sending enabled, and 1K per hour throttling. At 8 AM EST, the subset of eastern time subscribers are now available for sending (e.g. 1,500 subscribers)

  • 1,000 will be sent at 8 AM EST

  • 500 will be sent at 9 AM EST

At 8 AM CST, the subset of central time subscribers are now available for sending (e.g. 1,000 subscribers)

  • 1,000 will be sent at 8 AM CST (non-inclusive of the 500 from the EST batch)

At 8 AM PST, the subset of pacific time subscribers are now available for sending (e.g. 2,500 subscribers)

  • 1,000 will be sent at 8 AM PST

  • 1,000 will be sent at 9 AM PST

  • 500 will be sent at 10 AM PST
